Saddam may have been a bad guy, but the mortality rate was 5.5 per 1000 when he was the oppressor. It’s now 13.3 per 1000. This does not appear to be progress…..and now takes the mystery out of why so many people there are willing to take up arms against their oppressors. What have they got to lose?
There is not a good ending to this situation. For anyone. As I said in an earlier entry, vote for the challenger. Let’s throw the bums out.

I am all for turning things around, but I’m not so sure the challenger candidates for this election are all that better either. We’ve lost our independent thinkers – we’ve created a political system where reasonable minds stay away, and the hurdle seems to enormous to clear. How do we change this? It’s now time that we do, and maybe it’s time (finally!) for the overstressed middle political spectrum, who have felt either voiceless or powerless, to take notice and get the country and world away from the stranglehold of the extremists on either end.
Fair comment. It’s just we know what we get with the current, new would at least provide different problems.
I definitely agree that the edges have far more influence than is merited. Let’s hope votes are accurately counted……
That comes to 600 people a day. Think someone might have noticed all those bodies piling up in the street if these numbers are accurate?

Ok Denny, you\’re entitled to your opinion, that\’s all it is. If you\’re looking to change someone\’s mind, then provide an alternate mortality figure and cite your sources. As it stands, \”this is ridiculous\” doesn\’t sway my viewpoint one bit. Come back with some data and we can have a discussion. Until and unless that happens, your comment carrys no weight.
